Unstable Construct (2021) is composed of exposed photographic film strips forming seven acrylic columns. Their color spectrum unfolds a transitory color space in relation to the viewer’s perspective. The title refers to an unstable structure: the strict cylindrical material is broken by the iridescent surface, referring to the multitude of realities arising from each point of reference. In addition to their engagement with perception, representation and formal reduction, Troika's works are also characterized by an immanent level of transcendence, in which critical attitudes towards processes of digitization and related social developments are revealed. In Unstable Construct, analogue and digital techniques are interfused. By integrating the digital RGB color space into the development of the haptic film strip, Troika thematizes how digital and physical worlds collide, overlap and influence each other. Unstable Construct can also be interpreted as an experiment with movement and the static image.
