The sculpture "Hochsitz" (2025) draws on the form of an elevated observation post reminiscent of the booth of lifeguards — and becomes a metaphorical site of perspective shift within the exhibition. Starting from its original function as a place of control, distance, and potential action, a hybrid object emerges that can simultaneously serve as shelter, vantage point, and memorial. The tower asserts itself as a spatial marker, raising questions about responsibility, perception, and power structures in the context of ecological and societal upheaval. The motif of the Hochsitz — traditionally a place of hunting, control, and surveillance — is here translated into a fragile symbolism. The tower invites observation but refuses any notion of domination. The interplay of natural processes and human intervention is made visible, without reducing it to a simple narrative. With her characteristic blend of poetic storytelling and scientifically grounded research, Anne Duk Hee Jordan transforms a familiar object into a platform for pause, introspection, and ecological awareness. As part of the solo exhibition "I will always weather with you" at the Bass Museum of Art, Miami Beach (2023–2024), Anne Duk Hee Jordan developed three towers inspired by the colorful lifeguard stands of Miami Beach. These structures explored the complex relationship between humans, nature, and technology. Within an environment of kinetic objects, sound, projections, and robotics, immersive spaces were created where the elements of land, water, and air entered into dialogue.
