The sculpture CORE is an exciting combination of rectangular ferrite magnet plates and their broken fragments, alternately stacked upon one another. The minimalist language of the geometric structure is penetrated by the broken bits, drawing attention to the dualism of the material. The ferrite magnets, cast from a rigid form to underline their synthetic character, show properties, once fragmented, reminiscent of slate or stone-like, natural brittle structures. This results in an exciting interplay of artificially created and energized materials, all utilized in modern technologies and industries. The cosmological phenomenon of magnetism, which fundamentally affects our world, is something both inexplicable and mystical. By playing with the nature of the material itself, Jaworski plays with the interaction between control and autonomy in CORE. Instead of the artist acting as the formative force, there is an inherent autonomy of the material, the clear geometric structures are broken through and fragments reminiscent of splintered slate become the expression of this transference. In CORE, both forces can be read and interpreted in equal parts, while in the sculpture A, another work from the series, the focus is on the independence of the material itself.
