In “Unsent Parcel“ (2022), Ju Young Kim addresses the distance to her own roots. The suitcase, marked with a fictional shipping label bearing her grandfather’s old address in North Korea, symbolizes a home that remains unreachable. Inside, an enlarged depiction of Kim’s palm lines forms a metaphorical “micro-terrain” that embodies identity and a lost sense of belonging.
