"Airport staff might need to open the baggage to screen the items" (2024) is a series of works by Ju Young Kim in which she transfers depictions of suitcases onto glass. The motifs resemble X-ray scans from security checks – luggage scanned and exposed as if being examined for hidden contents. Presented in backlit boxes, the works unfold a distinctive luminosity that enhances the impression of technical imaging while simultaneously creating a fragile, almost immaterial aesthetic.
