"N 400 P22R" (2024) shows an abstract aluminum form placed on an oversized soap holder made of black walnut wood. The form is based on a cast of the inner structure of a shell. Cook studied replica and printmaking and uses repeated casts and transformations: she casts, rubs, works, and replicates the forms until they detach from the original and become independent. Inspired by everyday objects, natural phenomena, and personal memories, she attaches great importance to the physical properties of her materials. The result is an organic-looking, intuitive sculpture that reveals the process of working and connects material, form, and memory.
