In the “RSRCH PNL” series of works, Niko Abramidis &NE combines elements from the cosmos of his fictional financial worlds to create new narrative images, cycles and strategic plans. Its aesthetic with silver sprayed wood is similar to that of pinboards or magnetic boards, which Niko Abramidis &NE visualizes his “research”. In the sharp-edged drawing style typical of the artist, a dystopian vision of the transformation of the financial markets is revealed, in which comprehensible time horizons merge with one another and thus point to the complexity of our present. In this work, Niko Abramidis &NE combines the allegorical figure of a four-headed Hydra with symbols from his fictional artistic cosmos. In numerous tales of Greek mythology, the battle with the multi-headed water snake is hopeless, because for every head cut off, it grows two new ones, while its middle head is even immortal. In Niko Abramidis &NE's version of their depiction, their heads look in different directions, indicating the different time axes of past, present and future. A small head on the left also wears a wristwatch-like a necklace, which is built into the lacquered wooden panel. This form of representation literally illustrates how much this outgrowth is bound to the present time; the fight against the Hydra is just as hopeless as the fight against time. The work illustrates how wisdom and knowledge are tied to time as a fundamental resource through which knowledge can be acquired and passed on or lost.
