Mellan sjöarna Grycken och Fullen, längs Fulle å, en knapp mil norr om Stjärnsund ligger ett av landets vackraste ödebruk, Silfhytteå. Innan hyttan uppfördes fanns här ett krutbruk från mitten av 1600-talet. Under en kort period i slutet av 1600-talet smältes här också silvermalm från gruvorna i Stigsbo. Då fick bruket också sitt namn, Silfverhytteå, som snart blev Silfhytteå. 1787 flyttades hyttan i Stjärnsund till Silfhytteå och Stjärnsund hade därmed sin tackjärnsförsörjning tryggad och kunde använda vattenkraften helt till manufakturverket och smide.
