Landsberga blev en kungsgård redan i mitten av 1300-talet. Senare blev dock gården kyrkogods och var en tid bostad åt ärkebiskopen i Uppsala, samt även avelsgård för kreatursskötsel. Namnet på socken Biskopskulla härleder sig därifrån. Godset drogs åter till kronan vid reformationen och förlänades senare av konung Gustav Vasa till riddaren Nils Warg. Förläningen omfattade huvudgården samt Landsberga by. Gården blev frälsegods och förblev så fram till Karl XI reduktion då kronan tog gården i besittning ännu en gång. Gården anslogs som översteboställe i Upplands infanteriregemente.
