Efterkrigstidens folkhem var en social och politisk vision av stora mått. Rättvisa och trygghet, välfärd, folkfostran och demokrati skulle byggas in i det svenska samhället och förändra svenskarnas vardag i grunden. Folkhemstanken förverkligades i bostäder och bibliotek, ålderdomshem och dagis, parker och medborgarhus. Men tiderna förändras, folkhemstanken ifrågasätts och stora delar av bygget monteras nu ned.
