Motivering: Bergsmansby med rötter i medeltiden och välbevarat byggnadsbestånd från 1700- och 1800-talen. - Uttryck för riksintresset: Stora Bråfors har byggnader från 1700-talet grupperade kring kvadratisk gårdsplan. Intill dessa lämningar efter hyttan, med bl. a. masugnsruin, rest av rådstuga och slaggvarp. Lilla Bråfors vid sidan av bykärnan, har en regelbundet planerad tomt med alléprydd uppfartsväg.
