Enligt urkunderna var det biskop Brynolf Algotsson som 1298 började bygga slottet. Undersökningar visar att borgen haft ungefär samma plan som nu. 1527 drogs Läckö in till kronan. 1543 förlänades det till Svante Sture. 1571 i släkten Hogenskild, en grundlig restaurering. 1615 fick Jacob De la Gardie slottet som föräning. 1652 sonen Magnus Gabriel De la Gardie tog över. 1681 kom reduktionen och satte punkt för De la Gardieepoken. 1746 bataljmålningar och generalsporträtt överfördes till Stockholm och Karlbergs slott. 1810 Carl Johan Adlercreutz fick Läckö slott som nationalbelöning. 1920-talet…
