Bilden ingår i en samling som visar vardagen för familjen Ingrid och Harald Sundling i Grunnerud, Årjängs Kommun, med tonvikt på tiden för andra världskriget. Harald var gränsuppsyningsman (underbetjänt vid tullverket, som övervakade riksgränsen för att förhindra olovlig införsel av varor). Familjen flyttade till platsen då han tog tjänst på Tullstationen. Även hans far jobbade med samma uppgifter under 1910-20-talet, då var titeln för detta yrke gränsridare, några av bilderna i samlingen visar denna period i släktens historia.
