Portrait of Alice Keown and Mrs. Hardinge in costume and posing as the novice and Queen Guinevere from the accompanying Alfred, Lord Tennyson poem titled "Guinevere". The novice wears a light-colored habit and sits facing Guinevere with her hands folded together in her lap. Guinevere sits in profile with her eyes turned down. Her long hair hangs over her shoulders and peeks out from under the dark veil that covers her head.
