Titel: De japanska trupperna segrar över rebellerna nära Hsinchu på Taiwan (Taiwan Shinchiku fukin dozoku sôjô no zu / Japanese Forces Sweep Out Rebels near Hsinchu in Taiwan) Shimonoseki-avtalet överlämnade Taiwan till Japan men taiwaneserna gjorde aktivt motstånd mot den japanska ockupationen. I maj 1895 skickade Japan det Kejserliga Gardet till Taiwan för att slå ned motståndet. Japanerna attackerade Takushan den 16 juni 1895. De tvingade kineserna att fly och brände ner området.
