Tuotteiden ja palveluiden kallistuminen pakotti alan taksankorotuksiin. 70-luvulla taksit saivat liikenteellisiä erikoisoikeuksia saadessaan luvan käyttää niin sanotun julkisen liikenteen kaistoja. Käyttöön tulivat taksiruudut, huomiota kiinnitettiin myös taksiasemien sijoitteluun.
