Im Vordergrund rechts, halb verdeckt von einem hohen Baum, steht ein halb verfallenes Fachwerkhaus mit niedrigem Anbau und umzäunt von einem reparaturbedürftigen Lattenzaun. Im Hintergrund sind die Dächer und der Kirchturm eines Dorfes zu sehen. Der nahsichtige, häufig von niedrigem Augpunkt aus gesehene Landschaftsausschnitt charakterisiert auch andere Blätter von Philipp Veit, insbesondere seine Serie von Landschaftsdarstellungen des Großen Gartens in Dresden.
