Eine Holzbrücke mit beidseitigem Geländer, über die ein Mann mit einem Esel und zwei weitere Männer ziehen, führt über einen Fluss. Jenseits ragt eine mächtige Burgruine auf, im Mittelgrund links zwischen Gebüsch und Bäumen eine niedrige Hütte. Auf einem davor am Ufer gelegenen Wiesenstück sitzt ein Mann mit angezogenen Knien und Hut.
