Die Alexanderkirche in Zweibrücken war eine spätgotische Hallenkirche aus dem späten 15. Jh. Sie wurde nach der Zerstörung am 14.3.1945 im Zweiten Weltkrieg vereinfacht wiederaufgebaut. Weis war Schüler des bekannten Veduten- und Theatermalers Domenico Quaglio und seines Bruders Simon in München. Er kam im Jahr 1839 als Hofmaler des Herzogs Max Eugen von Leuchtenberg nach St. Petersburg. Er schuf dort und in Moskau zahlreiche Veduten. Nach dem frühen Tode des Herzogs kehrte Weiß 1852 nach München zurück
