Das in Aquarellfarbe und Gouache auf Elfenbein ausgeführte Miniaturporträt zeigt Landgräfin Elizabeth von Hessen-Homburg (1770-1840), eine Tochter des englischen Königs George III., im Dreiviertelprofil. Das Bildnis orientiert sich kompositorisch eng an einem 1820 entstandenen Porträt der Landgräfin von Caspar Klotz, von dem zahlreiche Kopien bzw. Varianten bekannt sind. Der unbekannte Kopist wandelte die Farbgebung des Originals jedoch gänzlich ab und bediente sich folglich mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit einer druckgrafischen Vorlage, wobei die fehlende Kolorierung frei ergänzt wurde.
