Filigran und mit einem Auge fürs Detail malte Alwine Schroedter um 1880 mehrere Studien nach der Natur. Besonders ihre botanischen und figürlichen Motive sind von einer zarten Farbgebung und klaren Linien geprägt. Sie dienten sowohl als Vorstudien als auch als eigenständige Kunstwerke. Ihr Ehemann, der Maler Adolph Schroedter hatte sie im Zeichnen und in der Aquarellmalerei ausgebildet. Später gab sie selbst anderen Malerinnen Privatunterricht.
