View of the front entrance to an unidentified Japanese temple or shrine complex. A bridge leads to the entrance gate, crossing over a narrow moat. Pedestal lanterns line the moat on the far side of the bridge. Two men standing on the dirt road that passes the entrance gate face the camera, while a third stands beneath the gate with a fan held up to shield his face from the sun. A second, smaller gate stands in the background on the right side of the image.
