Max Liebermann hofft, dass der gebürtige Russe Adolf Rothermundt trotz des Krieges durch den Einfluss von Eduard Arnhold seine Ausstellung anlässlich des 70. Geburtstag in Berlin ansehen kann. Bei dieser Gelegenheit hofft Liebermann darauf, A. Rothermundt und dessen Schwager Oscar Schmitz in seinem Haus am Wannsee begrüßen zu können.
