Max Liebermann bedankt sich für Oscar Schmitz' "gestriges Telegramm", das den Ankauf eines Bülow-Porträts aus Schmitz-Besitz durch die Dresdener Galerie meldete. Zudem erwähnt er den Eingang eines Briefes am heutigen Tage. Max Liebermann möchte seinen "Dank durch die That" beweisen. Worin diese schließlich bestehen sollte, bleibt [bis heute] offen.
