Schwarzweißfotografie, Innenaufnahme, 1930er Jahre Halbfigur stehend, Frontalaufnahme - der Maler Max Schwimmer, Anfang 40 Jahre alt, schaut in die Kamera. Er stützt sich dabei auf eine Art stoffbezogene Lehne, die sich direkt vor ihm befindet. In der linken Hand hält er quer einen langen dünnen Pinsel, die andere Hand liegt abstützend darunter. Schwimmer schaut ernst und nachdenklich in die Kamera. Rechts hinter dem Maler befindet sich die Staffelei mit einem Bild darauf. Es ist nicht zu erkennen, was es darstellen soll. Schwimmer trägt eine hellgraue Hose, einen grobgestrickten, dunklen Wollpullover. Der Kragen eines großkarierten Hemdes schaut heraus. Die braunen Haare hat er nach rechts, über die Stirn gekämmt.
