Mit nicht wenig Stolz im Blick präsentiert sich ein junger Künstler dem Betrachter: Das Konterfei im Sonntagsstaat ist das Werk eines erst 14 Jahre alten Malers. Der noch knabenhaft schmächtige Körper steckt in einem engen Rock; die reich bestickte Schirmmütze und die großen Ohrringe erinnern an biedermeierliche Studententrachten. Der Griffel in der rechten Hand ist das traditionelle Attribut für das Künstlerselbstporträt. Dem Vorbild des Vaters folgend, nutzte Alois Lang, 1812 in Waldsee geboren, sein Talent zu einer professionellen Künstlerkarriere. Bez. u. li. "Alois im Jahre anno 1826".
