Das Vorbild dieses kleinen, auf Kupfer kopierten Gemäldes dürfte ein repräsentatives Bildnis gewesen sein. Der Dargestellte zeigt sich als Fürst und Kriegsherr in Rüstung, hinter ihm ist ein Feldzelt aufgebaut. Das achtspitzige Kreuz könnte ihn als Ritter des Malteser- oder Johanniterordens ausweisen. Hinsichtlich des Bildaufbaus und Details wie des Baumstumpfs sind Parallelen zum preußischen Hofmaler Antoine Pesne (1683-1757) zu ziehen, der ähnliche Porträts von eng mit Berlin verbundenen Fürsten malte.
