This iron spit was used to cook food over an open fire. One end was fitted into a wooden handle, while the other held the meat for roasting. As the Gauls did not use frying pans, meat was typically grilled over a flame or, more commonly, boiled in a copper cauldron. (Inventory no. 2017.34.3366.17, Bibracte Museum)
