Der Kupferstich von Johann Gotthard Müller aus dem Jahr 1772 reproduziert ein Porträt aus dem 17. Jahrhundert. Es zeigt Frédéric-Maurice de La Tour d’Auvergne im Brustausschnitt, in ein Oval eingefügt. Der Herzog ist im Dreiviertelprofil von links vor dunklem Hintergrund gezeigt. Er trägt einen für die Mitte des 17. Jahrhunderts modischen Bart zum gescheitelten, kinnlangen Haar. Über den Rüstungspanzer wurden ein feiner weißer Kragen sowie eine Schärpe gelegt. Unterhalb des Porträts, das mit einer rechteckigen Fläche umgeben wurde, ist mittig das Wappen de La Tour d'Auvergnes dargestellt sowie eine den Dargestellten identifizierende Inschrift.
