Die der Lithographie zugrunde liegende Zeichnung wurde von Eberhard Emminger 1834 "nach der Natur" geschaffen. Sie wurde von Gottfried Küstner gedruckt und im Verlag von Carl Hoffmann in Stuttgart veröffentlicht. Im Bildmittelgrund ist eine Ansicht von Stuttgart aus Süden dargestellt; deutlich treten die Türme der Stifts-, Leonhards- und Hospitalkirche sowie der beiden Schlösser aus der Stadtsilhouette hervor. Mit einer Weinlese im Vordergrund wird ein wichtiger Wirtschaftszweig der Stadt verbildlicht, die in Wald und Wiesen eingebettet gezeigt wird.
