Das Königstor stand am unteren Ende der Königstraße in Stuttgart. Es basierte auf Entwürfen von Leopold Retti und Nikolaus Friedrich von Thouret (1767-1845) und wurde 1810 eingeweiht. Die aquarellierte Federzeichnung von Thouret zeigt im oberen Abschnitt einen Aufriss des Tors von der der Stadt abgewandten Seite aus. Darunter ist ein Grundriss des Gebäudes zu sehen.
