Martin van den Bogaert, gen. Desjardins, war Hofbildhauer Ludwigs XIV. und ab 1686 Direktor der Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture in Paris. Der Kupferstich von Johann Gotthard Müller zeigt ihn in Halbfigur vor einer Landschaft; hinter seinem Kopf verläuft eine Draperie. Das Porträt ist oval gefasst und einer strukturierten Fläche einbeschrieben, der im unteren Bereich eine Namensplakette vorgeblendet ist.
