Der Inschrift zufolge stand Christoph Matthäus Pfaff für dieses Porträt dem Maler Johann Jacob Haid lebend Modell. Der anschließend nach seiner Zeichnung in Augsburg ausgeführte Stich zeigt den Theologen stehend als Halbfigur, die linke Hand über das Herz und das Kreuz auf seiner Brust gelegt, die rechte auf ein Buch gestützt. Im Hintergrund ist ein beiseite geschobener Vorhang zu erkennen, der den Blick auf ein Bücherregal sowie einen Ausblick in den Himmel freigibt. Das Porträt wird von einem Rahmen umfasst und ruht auf einer Konsole, die mit Namen, Titeln, Ämtern und dem Geburtsdatum des Dargestellten beschriftet ist.
