Der Stahlstich zeigt eine Ansicht des Stuttgarter Marktplatzes um die Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts. Der Blick erfolgt leicht schräg von links über den Platz hinweg auf das Rathaus; der Renaissancebau wurde Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts abgerissen. Links von dem Gebäude steht der Marktbrunnen, der heute weiter nach vorne links versetzt ist. Locker über den Platz verteilt sind Fuhrwerke und Menschen dargestellt.
