Weit schwingende Flügel, wehende Stoffe, windzerzauste Haare und weitausgreifende Bewegung der Gliemaßen: Ein Engel braust vom Himmel herab. Diese lebhafte Gestalt war einst mit seinem Pendant (Badisches Landesmuseum, Inv.-Nr. 61/25) vermutlich auf einem Altar positioniert. Engel gelten als himmlische Boten in vielen Religionen, so auch im Christentum.
