Durch die Heirat 1676 mit der Erbtochter von Burgfarrnbach, Anna Cordula Freiin von Kresser, kam der Urgroßonkel des Fürsten Pückler nach Franken und begründete die Linie Pückler-Limpurg. 1690 wurde er zusammen mit seinem Bruder August Sylvius in den Reichsgrafenstand erhoben. Carl Franz war polnischer und kursächsischer Wirklicher Geheimer Rat, markgräflich brandenburg-bayreuthischer Geheimratspräsident und Landeshauptmann in Neustadt an der Aisch. Zweifellos stammt das Bild von derselben Hand wie die Porträts seines Bruders und seiner Schwägerin, doch scheint es früher entstanden zu sein.
