Die Tochter eines brandenburgischen Inspektors war zunächst die Mätresse Kolbe von Wartenbergs und wurde 1696 seine Frau. Als er als Intrigant am preußischen Hof gestürzt wurde, musste Catharina mit ihm nach Frankfurt am Main übersiedeln. Dort starb 1712 Kolbe mit 69 Jahren. Die Witwe liierte sich bald mit Marschall d’Huvelles und lebte in Paris, später in Den Haag, wo sie 1734 im Alter von 60 Jahren starb.
