L'armée de Louis XIV campée devant Cambrai Sanguine sur légère esquisse à la pierre noire sur trois feuilles jointes. H. 0,600 ; L. 1,500. Mis au carreau à la pierre noire. Repris au poinçon pour certains motifs. Pliure verticale à droite. Gollé en plein sur toile. Devant la ville de Cambrai, vue du côté sud-ouest, est installé le camp royal. Sur la gauche, Louis XIV à cheval, entouré de son état-major, dirige son bâton de commandement vers la place forte. Parmi les tableaux de la première série des Conquêtes du Roi exécutés par Van der Meulen pour Marly, figure un Siège de Cambrai par Louis …
