A well-modeled head of a woman is set on the bust with a slight turn to the proper right shoulder. The face is oval-shaped with a prominent nose that curves slightly downward at the end. The eyes are narrow and deep set. The lips are thick. The hair is pulled back into a soft cap or sakkos in Greek. There is an opening in the sakkos on the top of the head, which reveals strands of hair carved in incision. The ears are only cursorily outlined, well set in the roll of hair seen below the sakkos. The top edge of a dress is discernible off the shoulder along the front lower edge of the sculpture.
