Aquarelle sur esquisse à la mine de plomb, quelques traits de plume et encre brune (sans doute postérieurs) sur cinq feuilles jointes. Dimensions hors cadre H. 0,420 ; L. 2,388. Dimensions encadré: 0,49 x 2,46 m Repris au poinçon. Annoté en haut à gauche à la plume et encre brune ; Arras. Jaunissement, taches d'humidité, déchirures. Collé en plein sur toile. Un important réseau de fortifications protège la ville qui s'étend sur toute la longueur de la composition. Au premier plan s'avance l'ouvrage de défense surnommé « la corne de Guiche ».
