Brustbild im Oval, den Kopf im Halbprofil, leicht aufblickend. Karl Weise (1813-1888) war Dichter und zugleich Handwerker. Seit 1849 lebte er in Freienwalde und erlangte seit den 1860er Jahren zunehmende Popularität als Volksdichter. Das ist auch die Zeit, in der dieses Bildnis, das ihn im mittleren Alter zeigt, entstanden sein könnte. Bezeichnet Mi. re. mit roter Farbe "Mathilde Wurl", rückseitig auf dem Keilrahmen von fremder Hand nachträglich "Karl Weise / Volksdichter aus / Freienwalde / 1813-1888". Nicht im Bestandskatalog Gemälde I,1 und II.
