Das rasch mit großzügigen Pinselstrichen gemalte Ölbild besitzt neben der thematischen auch eine große stilistische Nähe zum Werk Carl Blechens und ist eine der seltenen Landschaften Schirmers mit Motiven aus der Mark Brandenburg. Schirmer wurde 1839 Nachfolger von Carl Blechen als Lehrer für Landschaftsmalerei an der Akademie der Künste.
