A portrait of a seated man with a beard, wearing a military uniform. He has a leather sash over his left shoulder. There are three badges pinned to his left sleeve, two of which are gold badges for the Queen's Prize of 1866 and 1869. A patch of a rifle is sewn to the sleeve below the badges.
