Alltägliche Gegenstände sowie Blumen und Früchte sind wiederkehrende Motive in Modersohn-Beckers Stillleben. Anhand von intensiven, pastos aufgetragenen Farben erprobte sie neue malerische Wege – inspiriert von modernen Strömungen, mit denen sie sich vor allem auch in Paris vertraut machte. Das Stillleben mit Robbia-Putto wurde bereits 1906 von Gustav Pauli in der Kunsthalle Bremen ausgestellt. Die Gegenstände sind auf einer Art Regal vor der blauen Wand im Atelier der Künstlerin aufgereiht. Der hohe Kerzenständer sowie die Replik eines Wickelkind-Reliefs nach dem Florentiner Altmeister Andrea della Robbia dynamisieren das Ensemble. Eva Fischer-Hausdorf
