Stahlstich mit Abbildung der Leiche von Ferdinand Philippe d'Orleans, Herzog von Orleans (1810-1842), in seinem Schlafzimmer. Der französische Thronfolger, ältester Sohn von König Louis-Philippe I., verblutete nach einem Sprung oder Sturz aus einer Kutsche, deren Pferde durchgegangen waren. Am Boden vor seinem Bett liegen zahlreiche medizinische Gerätschaften, die von den vergeblichen Bemühungen eines Arztes zeugen.
