Stahlstich von N. Dietz nach einer Vorlage von Francois-Louis Lanfant de Metz (1814-1892). Der Genremaler, der sonst eher kleine Kinder im fröhlichen Spiel darstellte, hat dieses Mal drei Waisenkinder abgebildet. Sie stehen in einer Kirche mit einer Ordensfrau, die Hände im Gebet gefaltet. Die drei Kinder sind anscheinend in einem kirchlichen Heim untergekommen, sie sind sauber gekleidet und gut genährt. Ein Lichtkegel, der durch ein Fenster zu kommen scheint, erfaßt die kleine Gruppe und läßt sie hervortreten. Soll er einen Hoffnungsstrahl darstellen? Daß die Kinder in guter, christlicher Ob…
