Mišićavi mršavi kip sveca stoji n niskom podnožju s nešto povučenom i u koljenu savinutom desnom nogom i okretom gornjeg dijela tijela i glave ulijevo. Desna, opuštena ruka upire kažiprstom u maleno janje koje stoji do Ivanovih nogu, a savinuta lijeva držala je štap (izgubljen). Grudni koš s debelim ramenim zglobovima i rukama je razgolićen, s jako naglašenim rebrenim lukovima. Potkoljenice su mišićave i jake. Mršavo lice upalih obraza i krupnih očiju u dubokim dupljama obraslo je u brkove i uokvireno gustom kosom koja u dva zmijolika pramena pada duboko na grudi.
