Ähnlich wie der Liegende weibliche Akt sprüht auch Corinths Blumenstrauß vor Sinnlichkeit und Lebensfreude. Die üppig aus der Vase quellenden Blüten füllen die gesamte Bildfläche. Sie wirken nicht kunstvoll arrangiert, sondern wie wild in die Vase gesteckt. Zu erkennen sind Frühjahrsblumen und Gewächshausblüten wie gestreifte Amaryllis, Nelken, Rosen und Tulpen sowie Flieder (oder Hyazinthen?), die sich in alle Richtungen winden. Dorothee Hansen
