Carl Christoph Friedrich von Jäger war ab 1795 Arzt am württembergischen Hof; außerdem unterlag ihm ab 1897 die Leitung des Naturalienkabinetts. Die von Johann Christian Ernst Müller geschaffene Lithografie basiert auf einem Gemälde Franz Seraph Stirnbrands. Sie zeigt von Jäger im Brustausschnitt in Dreiviertelansicht von links. An seinen Jackenkragen ist der württembergische Civil-Verdienst-Orden geheftet, den König Friedrich I. ihm 1815 verliehen hatte. Das Blatt wurde von Gottfried Küstner gedruckt und bei Georg Ebner in Stuttgart verlegt.
