Das Blatt gehört zu einer Reihe von Porträtskizzen, die Joseph Joachim von Schnizer als Vorarbeiten für Gemälde zu den napoleonischen Feldzügen von 1814 schuf. Die Bleistiftskizze zeigt das ganzfigurige Porträt eines Soldaten im Dreiviertelprofil von rechts (Schott Nr. 17). Auf der Rückseite ist (laut Zuordnung von Oberstleutnant Schott im Jahr 1904) ein ganzfiguriges Porträt des Grafen Friedrich von Franquemont zu sehen (Schott Nr. 16).
